Melissa
September Prayer Letter
Welcome Noah Samuel McVicker
We are thrilled to announce the birth of our third precious son, Noah. After a month of starting and stopping contractions Noah was finally born at 39 weeks on September 13th at 8:23 PM. He weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and was 19 inches long. Labor was very quick! We arrived at the hospital at 5:00 PM and he was born just over 3 hours later. Noah and Melissa are healthy and well. We’ve experienced all the normal ups and downs of adding a new baby to our family but overall Aiden and Marshal have done really well. Aiden is a super star big brother and always looking for ways to help out. Marshal likes to remind us to be quiet when the baby is sleeping and melts our hearts calling Noah “baby Ohwah.” We are so blessed. Thank you for your prayers for our family.
Beginning of the Year

“Normal.” That’s what the start of this school year has felt like, praise the Lord. We’ve gone to multiple campuses across the state to table and get meetings with interested students. Hundreds of surveys filled out, lots of follow up meetings. Ben, is a UNL freshman I met with who wants to get back into Christian community even though his parents stopped going to church during Covid. Riley is a freshman at Hastings who, the night before we met, connected with other girls in her dorm to have an impromptu Bible study in the quad. We had 10% of Doane University’s student population fill out a survey. At Columbus, we hosted a BBQ and follow ups are happening as I write this. And there are more stories like these happening. Please be praying as we start the year!
Seeking Truth
After having canceled meetings last year due to Covid, Wayne State roared back with over 100 students showing up to their first weekly worship service a couple weeks ago. Last week I gave the message on Eph. 2:1-10, encouraging them to know that God is the one who brings life to our dead souls. After that meeting we did a seminar on writing out the network of people they are connected to and encouraged them to start sharing the gospel with those people. I am so proud of that movement as it is student ran and they handle all of the follow ups with freshman! Pray for Wayne State!
At UNL’s Big Red Welcome 589 students filled out an interest survey. One student, I’ll call “Mike,” wanted to get together. Mike is from the Middle East and isn’t a Christian, but has come to each of our worship services. He and a teammate got together the other day to read John 1. He said in a text to the teammate, “Pursuit for the truth!” Praise God for this young man’s search for the light.
